Bibb Mill Center Wedding in Columbus, Georgia

Preston + Athena / 2.15.2020

This past February, Preston and Athena held their wedding in their new hometown— Columbus, Georgia. The once largest cotton mill in Georgia, is now the beautifully restored venue known as The Bibb Mill Center. Preston and Athena chose such an awesome place to celebrate with their friends and family for their wedding. The historic large windows, original wood floors, and aged brick walls absolutely fueled my creative juices. I was so excited to help them remember this day!

Preston and his groomsmen all got ready in a super cool Airbnb a few minutes away from the venue, while Athena and her bridesmaids all prepared for the day at the venue. Once both the bride and groom were ready, we had their first look under some shade being cast by an old section of the Bibb Mill that was broken down. Once Preston finally laid eyes on his soon-to-be wife, his whole composure shifted, and pure joy overtook him. I feel like this may have been the moment that it finally hit both of them that this was it— this was their wedding day.

After some precious time together and with the bridal party, it was time to make it official. Friends and family from all over the U.S. came to Columbus, Georgia to witness the awesome union of these two, and boy was it something to witness. Preston and his dad, the officiant, took their place at the front of the audience and waited for Athena and her mother to gladly walk down the aisle. Probably the most emotional part of the ceremony was when Athena’s mom gave her soon-to-be son-in-law a warm embrace before handing her daughter off to become his wife.

I think each guest would agree that the reception could have lasted the whole night and never felt boring or dull. It was genuinely the most I have ever seen a crowd dance at a wedding without growing tired. Eventually, though, the reception came to a close. After an iconic sparkler exit, the newly married couple was gifted by the bridal party with a newly decorated car, hahah.

This is a day that I will forever look back on and smile because of how much fun and joy filled it was. There wasn’t a single moment that anyone was anything but full of excitement and happiness for the couple.
