Arabia Mountain Sunset Engagement
Macie + John / 5.30.2020
Gosh, where I do I begin with the abundance of things I have to say about Macie and John and our time together during their engagement photos?
I went to school with Macie’s twin sister, Sarah, and never had the privilege of getting to know Macie until this session. She came to me in May, about a month before their wedding was to be held in June, and asked me if I had time to take some engagement photos of them. They never got the chance to take some earlier in their engagement and she had a really neat idea for a wedding present for John. They loved record albums and she wanted to make a custom album full of songs they love and have a picture of them as the cover. This is hands down the BEST gift I have ever heard of. Luckily they were willing to travel some and we made this thing happen.
We picked Arabia Mountain as a shooting location and when Macie told me she specifically wanted blue hour photos, I knew that this session was going to be so much fun. Not many people choose blue hour over golden hour, and I loved that she even knew it was a thing.
I don’t know a better way to describe our time together other than saying it was magical. They are one of those couples that I connect so much with and felt like we had been friends for a really long time. I learned about how they dated in middle school, how John embarrassingly wrote her a love song, recorded him singing it, and then deleted it. They told me about why they chose the college they did instead of Georgia Southern which was closer to home, and I got to witness them be stupid giddy about being less than a month away from marriage.
It’s no secret that COVID caused a lot of inconveniences for a lot of people, but if it wasn’t for COVID then my schedule wouldn’t have been free enough for me to book a session two weeks out. If it wasn’t for COVID, I would have never made these friends and gotten to help celebrate them in their final days before marriage.
